I've heard twice the price CD players, and they were inferior in CD playback. I think you've done wrong with the player. You should have heard of course first some of these instruments in real life. This is the case either using the analogue (SCART RGB/Composite/S-video) or digital (HDMI) video outputs, so there is at least one major difference compared to the Denon 1920. Then tell which is more real, not more loud! The Marantz 6600 is, supposedly, a Denon 1920 clone but there is no lip-sync issue whatsoever. Try some classical music with cellos and real basses. If you had made more extended listenings you should have seen that the full spectrum is there, but the whole tonal balance is much better, the bass is tight and realistic and not artificially boosted.
